Filipina pop star Charice is invading Japan's lucrative music market by launching her self-titled debut album on the 7th of July. The Japan edition of the album will contain the song Crescent Moon, an English cover of Mikazuki by Japan's pop singer Ayaka.

On May 23, the 18-year old singer flew to Japan from the Philippines after her formal album launching in her home country. She rehearsed and recorded some Japanese songs as additional tracks for the Japan edition of her album. He also posed for pictorial for the cover of her album.
Warner Music Japan is releasing Charice's album with some Japanese songs covered by Charice as bonus tracks. The original album cover in its international edition will also be modified to put some Japanese touch making it attractive to the natives.

Charice's album ranked No. 8 on the Billboard 200 on the first week of its release selling more than 43, 000 copies in the USA alone. This is the first time for an Asian to debut on the Top 10 in Billboard charts.

The album's carrier single Pyramid (with Iyaz) peaked to No. 1 spot on the Billboard Dance/Pop Chart and still ranking since its release. It has also started to penetrate the Billboard 100 just after the release of the album.

In her homeland, the Philippines, the album sold more than 20, 000 units on the first week of its release having the status of 'gold' and still climbing to the 'platinum' level even before the formal launching.

Hailed as Asia's Superstar, Charice invaded America like a storm with her powerful voice from a pint-sized body. Critics proven themselves wrong in saying that she, being an Asian, will find it very challenging to penetrate the US music industry.

This 18-year old singing sensation started her career from her homeland The Philippines by joining singing competitions to help her single mother in earning money for a living. Her performances in the competitions she joined in were posted on YouTube by her fans and gained millions of hits. This made her way to be noticed in the Asian region and later on brought her to a popular Korean show Star King.

Her singing prowess and amazing talent also mader her to The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show in America and The Paul O'Grady Show in Europe, and the rest is history.

Within a short period of time, she has already performed with big stars like Celine Dion, Andrea Bocceli, Josh Groban to name a few. She's been known as Oprah's 'Most Talented Kid in the World' and obviously one of her favorites.

Today, Charice is under the mentorship of music producer/composer David Foster.
