THE 36th Metro Manila Film Festival awarding ceremony was held Sunday night, December 26th, at the Meralco Theater. Festival movie entries were judged and awarded during the event hosted by Raymond, Richard and Ruffa Gutierez.

Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na 'To bagged most of the awards including Best Picture, Best Actress for Ai-Ai delas Alas and Best Director for Wenn Deramas.

Some festival rules have changed this year. In the previous years the Best Picture was judged according to its box office performance. While this year was a battle of creativity and technical excellence.

Furthermore, there should only be three nominees for each award category this year.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino opened the event. The ceremony had a delayed telecast over GMA 7 during that night.
